Passage: Jeremiah 7-9

1.    Why do you think God had Jeremiah call the worshipers at the temple to repent, rather than outsiders or obvious sinners? What does that say about religious complacency?

 2.    How do we sometimes trust in “places” (like church buildings) or traditions to save us, rather than a true relationship with God? Can you relate to this struggle personally?

 3.    Jeremiah compares the temple to a “den of robbers.” Jesus uses the same phrase in Mark 11. What does that reveal about God’s response to outward religiosity without inward transformation?

4.    The people of Israel tried to manipulate God’s presence for protection (as at Shiloh). In what ways might we try to use God or religion for our benefit without submitting our hearts to Him?

5.    How can our love for one another (as Jesus commanded in John 13:34–35) serve as a visible sign of true faith? What does this look like practically in your church or small group?
