About our Classrooms and Curriculum

Nursery is for 0-2 years old. In this classroom, we have at minimum 2 volunteers. All of our volunteers have their clearances. The child will learn how to be without their parents, interact through play with others, and get a snack when they are at least 12 months old. Also in this area, there is a room available for moms to nurse or pump. If their child falls asleep and the parents feel comfortable they may allow them to sleep in the cribs provided. There is a video camera with sound so volunteers can immediately take care of the child, should they wake up.   When they turn 2 they will move up to our Toddler class.

Toddler class is for 2-4 year olds. Again we try to have two volunteers in the room. Toddlers are guided in play, story, craft and a snack. The curriculum we currently use is the Great Commission Publication, they provide everything for the teacher to use. Once they turn 4, they again move up to our preschool class.

Once a child enters into our school age classrooms, they move up to the rest of our classes by grade. When they are entering a new school year, they will move into the classroom that is the right age for them. Often this is the weekend before school begins, but parents are notified through email about this information during the summer. Our classes currently are Preschool to kindergarten, 1st-3rd grade, and 4th-5th grade. It is important that parents have their child in the appropriate room. The volunteers who lead the children in the classroom work very hard to have age appropriate lessons, this helps to prevent boredom. It's also very important developmentally for children to be around peers their own age.

In these classrooms we currently use the Gospel Project. The lessons are found online with videos of the Bible story, and a song for worship. There is an activity worksheet and a snack is also provided if the teacher wishes. Each teacher has the freedom to lead the classroom as they wish using the provided curriculum. Some teachers will have games, some will do crafts but all of the teachers will make sure that the children hear the Bible story, the key Bible verse and most lessons allow the children to hear the gospel.
